Responsible AI Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-26

Preamble

Veralix Foundation recognizes that artificial intelligence applied to forensic evidence analysis carries profound ethical responsibilities. Our Responsible AI Policy establishes binding principles that govern all AI systems within the Truth Intelligence Platform. These are not aspirational guidelines — they are engineering constraints enforced through architecture.

Human Authority Principle

AI systems within Veralix Aegis operate exclusively in an advisory capacity. No AI output may constitute a legal conclusion, determination of guilt or innocence, or assessment of legal liability. Every AI-generated analysis carries a mandatory HUMAN REVIEW REQUIRED designation. This designation cannot be removed or overridden by any system component. Human forensic experts retain absolute authority over all conclusions derived from AI analysis.

Transparency and Explainability

All AI analytical methods used in the platform are published with complete methodology documentation, including: training data provenance and composition; model architecture and parameters; known limitations and failure modes; validated error rates with confidence intervals; peer-reviewed validation studies. No 'black box' algorithms are permitted in evidence analysis pipelines.

Bias Mitigation

We conduct ongoing bias audits across all AI systems, testing for discriminatory outcomes across protected classes. Bias testing results are published annually. If bias is detected, affected analytical capabilities are suspended until remediation is verified through independent audit. We maintain diverse testing datasets that represent the full spectrum of evidence types and contexts.

Data Minimization

AI systems process only the minimum data necessary for the specific analytical task. Ghost Mode architecture ensures no training occurs on user evidence. No user data is used to improve AI models without explicit, informed, revocable consent. Model training uses only publicly available datasets and synthetic data with documented provenance.

Accountability Framework

Veralix maintains a Responsible AI Board comprising forensic scientists, ethicists, legal scholars, and civil liberties advocates. This Board reviews all AI capabilities before deployment, conducts quarterly audits of deployed systems, and has authority to suspend any AI feature that fails to meet our ethical standards. Board decisions and audit summaries are published publicly.

Incident Response

If an AI system produces incorrect results that affect legal proceedings, our incident response protocol includes: immediate notification to all affected parties; suspension of the affected capability; root cause analysis published within 30 days; remediation plan subject to independent verification; compensation for demonstrable harm caused by system errors.

Prohibited Uses

Veralix AI systems shall never be used for: mass surveillance or population monitoring; predictive policing or pre-crime assessment; social scoring or behavioral prediction; evidence fabrication or manipulation; any purpose that undermines due process or civil liberties. Violations result in immediate service termination and may be reported to relevant authorities.
